Thankfulness and Tears
I am Blessed.
I have the most wonderful daughters, whom I am so proud of. A loving Husband that tries to understand and protect me. A Sister that I don't know what I would do without. My job, has brought me much joy and opened a new culture to me. And many family and friends that have Blessed my life along the way.
But...
It is also a time where I reflect on those things in my life that are not going so well.
I try so hard to remember not to dwell on things that I can not change, but it is difficult.
I find myself in prayer asking that God will provide me the comfort in knowing this is all part of His plan & that I need to trust in Him. However, I can't seem to be able to accept certain things that have brought such sadness. I find myself wondering why? Why God, must I endure this and if I must, please help me to accept and move forward.
When you have depression issues, the Holidays can be difficult instead of joyous. I am trying so hard.
I want to make everything perfect for my loved ones. But I also have this unbearable pain that some of whom I love so dearly can't join us and celebrate all we are Blessed with.
Life is so short...
I just want...
to be happy
to make others happy
and to learn to accept and move on.

the storms
I have been very hesitate to write some of these feelings and thoughts. My biggest fear is to hurt or offend someone. Especially someone I love. But I struggle with... why I started my blog, how I wanted to write about the good, the bad & the ugly. How life throws different things but how we learn to cope and journey forward. Turning the negative into positive.
I have always tried to be careful what I write. Particularly because of my girls, Emily & Annie. I would never want to embarrass them. They have grown into extraordinary young women, and I could not possibly be more proud of them.
I have gotten negative response on occasion from readers not liking hearing my darker side of life. I have also gotten positive response on how some of the dark helps them as well. So weighing it out.. today, anyway, I will share some thoughts about the not so fun and exciting part of my life that I am dealing with.
I am struggling with my relationship with my parents. I love them so much. I yearn to have a close relationship.
For those of you that are fortunate enough to have a Blessed relationship, I am so glad for you! I am overjoyed to know that it does exist and can only pray that my children and their families will feel Blessed to be close to Hubby and I. I try very hard to stay focused on that and perhaps we try harder to make for a calm and peaceful "homelife" so this will be an end result of a "happier family".
Unfortunately, because of mental illnesses and things that just can not be fixed, neither my husband or myself have that with our parents. It isn't, "something that happened or something said". It isn't grudges and it isn't resentment. It isn't neglect or even selfishness.
It is what it is.
As I approach 50, I would love nothing more than to have a close relationship with my parents. I realize that they are only human and can not live forever. I have friends that have lost their parents and miss them so. Would do anything to hug them again, to have them to love again. Sometimes, I think I am heading there with my parents... I will be talking to them daily, I will be under the impression things are improving and going well. I will be at that point where I am ready to open up more and embrace them, but then IT happens.
The storm arrives.
Hello manic depressed bi-polar crazy pod person that has invaded my loved one.
The words you say.
The actions you take.
Even after all these years, I am still surprised how they hurt and affect me.
I know you are not my loved one. That person is buried deep within. That person would never hurt someone so much.
No wine. No magic pill. Nothing to make it go away.
Sometimes, I just have to sit and wait for the storm to take its course and pray the damage isn't too bad.
How dreadful.
Thankfully, I do have so much love and support. My Sis understands what I go through more than anyone can as she too has to live this. I love you Sis and grateful to have you. My Hubby is so supportive and is my rock. Poor Guy just wants to find a way to fix things for me when we know there isn't anything we can do. Then my daughters... my precious daughters. I promise I will never put you through this. Please know with the right tools, even disorders such as these can be manageable.
I don't need sympathy. I don't need advice about being positive.
blah blah blah.
I just wanna vent now and then. I will move on.
i promise to post something fluffy soon!

StRAwbErRy fiELdS FORever...
I can't sing. I never know the words, I have no pitch, and I have an annoying little lisp. I never could sing... but that never stopped me.
When I was in High School, my Bestie, Richie, and I were involved with a Christian youth group called Young Life. we enjoyed singing along to the songs...quietly. But when we got in the car to head home, we belted them out as loud as we could, not caring how horrible we sounded.
I have always been a singer. I sing along to the radio. Even the songs I really shouldn't know. I sing when I have headphones on, looking and sounding weird. I sang to my Babies, and sing to my pets.
Songs left me a couple years ago. Not completely... but, the songs from my heart, singing a joyful tune, singing because you are happy... were gone for too long. My depression stole that joy from me. It's been a silent couple years.
Guess what? The songs in my heart are back! I find myself singing aloud a lot once again. Whistling & humming came first...Then it happened. I found myself once again singing in the shower. Singing in the car. Singing all the time.
Happiness has arrived and I feel the joy in my heart.
It feels good to be back♥

life breaths
![]() |
Life is good...
you are happy.
Then in a blink of an eye, something flips. Just like a light switch.
Maybe it is the weather...
Maybe it is financial...
Maybe it is just too many harsh words from someone you love...
Or maybe, it is all the above.
I look around me, and see so many things to make me happy. So many reasons to rejoice.
but sometimes I can't stop the vortex sucking me in, feeling myself spin, getting that sick feeling in my stomach, my head gets hot, and my heart starts to crumble.
I think about those less fortunate and carry many larger burdens. How impressive it is that they can manage and be so positive.
I try so hard to not carry a self pity for myself. I remind myself that I must trust God's plan for me and not question it. To have faith that God is in charge and WILL see me through everything always. I can't change what is my destiny and instead embrace and try to better understand what I am to learn through each experience given to me.
My beautiful breeze has left us. In it's place is horrible hot humid days with a heat index of 111. Yesterday, I feared I would have a heart attack as I cut the grass in this heat. I know that the lawnmower stopped those three times to force me to catch my breath and to hydrate myself.
I am anxiously waiting to get back to work (not until mid-August), so I can receive my much needed paychecks to contribute to our cost of living. Also my work makes me happy.
I struggle with not being able to "fix" things for those I love. I want to make things easier, I want to give comfort. I want to give reassurance. I keep trying to "turn that chair into a couch".
The Hubby's work is very intense and grueling lately (actually always). He is a tough negotiator and doesn't get contracts completed by being gentle. The tougher the situation the more likely it will trickle home. Which makes life at home hard for me.
There are other problems within those walls that is putting too much pressure within. In respect of my family, I don't write about this, but it doesn't mean it isn't there. Part of my biggest problem is the fact that I know I will never live up to high expectations. Nor be loved as much as I give. It is a harsh, taxing, and destructive walk. Sometimes I feel so ready to give up. But, God keeps me going. I know He's got my back.
If you are a reader of Faith... I would appreciate some prayers. If you are not, any positive energy sent my way would be appreciated. I know I will get through this all, but I feel a definite struggle with this.
Life is so short...

Runaway Chameleon
![]() |
| lookpictures.net |
When I was a Realtor, I learned to be a wonderful Chameleon. I could make myself appear to be just about anyone you wanted and needed me to be. I learned quickly what to say & more important, what not to say. I worked with people of many different backgrounds and learned how to fit in and be trusted. I also worked for a marketing company that used chameleon in the company name. (Which I found to be very genuine & creative). There it was so appropriate as every client had a different need from us.
Have you seen Julia Roberts in THE RUNAWAY BRIDE? Her character Maggie, can't seem to decide who she is and mirrors whatever her fiance's wants and needs are. Even something simple like how she prefers her eggs..., that depends on which fiancee she is with. As she nears each wedding, she bolts unable to commit and then starts over, having the new fiance's wants.
Sometimes, I feel like a combination of the two.
I hate to admit, that just about everything I choose, I think first is this what Hubby wants too? Food, entertainment, plans... I am the wife that will sacrifice to make him happy.
I find that I do that with my daughters as well. Friends? Family? even strangers? Check, Check, & Check. It's what I do. And I do this honestly and lovingly. I'm 48 and my whole life I have tried to please others and make things better for them, even if it cost me comfort.
Please don't misunderstand. I have made choices to get me where I am and who I am. It's just, if others are involved, I tend to try and be considered of what they want first.
I'm not complaining. What concerns me is, I wonder if I am starting to lose who I am? What I want and need. Things that were very important to me, that are no longer a part of me. I sometimes seem to follow the lead so well, I don't seem to be able to choose for myself.
I don't know... kind of rambling here.
I will be light & cheerful again with the next post. Just a bit morose today.

Back in the Saddle Again
Thank you to all of you that commented prayed and sent positive energy. I indeed felt it. Sometimes my depression gives me a little butt kicking and, well, I felt a whopper last week. I do have wonderful coping methods to utilize and usually they work, just some days are tougher.
I come from your typical dysfunctional family with scary skeletons in the closets. A long history of depression on both sides as well as suicidal tendencies (more unsuccessful than successful). This family background also packs a lot of love and stories of happily ever afters as well as survival skills.
Anyway, I feel back on track after a loving weekend and some spiritual growth. A Wedding, a Sister get together, a Daughter for dinner, some great Spouse time, chatting with a Bestie, enjoyment of beautiful weather, some work on the Baby Clothes Project, and some deep talking with God, made for a wonderful weekend.
I may not be perfect. I may never feel the self confidence and worth I should. But I am a fighter. I do know that God, my family and friends all love me very much. Once I start learning to accept, respect and love myself, then I can truly be happy.
A work in progress...
I have some challenges to get through this week. But with my head up, eyes wide open, I will face them, and do my best. This too will pass and I will have new challenges to come. How I deal with today's will help me prepare for tomorrow's.
I am adding a couple of coping skills to my daily routine. I started an Daily Audio Bible app on my phone. Determined to get through the entire Bible within a year. It's been a while, referring to my favorite scriptures is great but time to rediscover some others. I am also determined to get healthier. Eating habits as well as excercise. Is it too late at 48 to start running? I have NEVER been a runner, but I have been thinking about it.. Perfect neighborhood for it. If not, then my bicycle is getting the dust off and I'm replacing the rotted tires. Or maybe for the upcoming Mothers Day / birthday I can get one of these groovy vintage style bikes. Either way, I have 14 months before I turn 50 and I WILL get in shape by then, by Golly!
Well, neglected home is begging me to clean. Time to throw some tunes on. Maybe I will go to Brookie's Cookie Jar I love her playlist, go check it out!
Love to you All♥

objects in mirror are closer than they appear
I know that. I feel sadness and it is closing in on me, but I have hope that soon, I will be on the mend. I will perk back up.
You know, a funny thing. I'm in a dark place lately, trying not to be, and decide until now, not to post about it.
I kept thinking of the phrase, "Objects in the mirror..." so while googling, I found singer "Meatloaf", has a song from the "Bat Out of Hell" album, titled "Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are". Listening to this song, I can relate. My situations are very different, however I feel the song.
Go HERE to view video
"And though the nightmares should be overFor me, although sadness is enveloping me, I know that hope is approaching, its slowing catching up to me, getting ready to catch me and heal me.
Some of the terrors are still intact"
I won't give up, I won't let despair win. I know I have so much to be grateful & happy for.
Believe me, I know I am Blessed. However, some things, can't change just because you want them to. Some things are deeper than that.
I am a work in progress.
Sometimes, like a domino effect, it's hard to stand, when so much is pushing you down. My need to feel adequate, and my inability to feel I am enough, get overwhelming when too much is happening at once.
Like a Blog buddy's Blog title, "Some Days are Diamonds"... and some days aren't.

Happiness
I mean REALLY happy?
How does that feel?
I should be happy. I have so much to be grateful & happy for. A wonderful husband, beautiful smart daughters, an Arkful of animals. A roof over my head. Friends and family that love me.
So, what is wrong with me?
I feel like it is always three steps forward, two steps back for me. Every happy occasion in my life seems to come at a cost. I have happy moments but so many sad ones. I don't know what, where, or who I should be. I don't know.
I know so many people that have it bad, so many that have reasons to be sad, yet the are inspirational. They certainly don't play the poor me card. Again, I have so much to be happy for...so why do the things that get me down, get me so down.
Why am I so unhappy?
Why do I question what I am doing so?
I have a wonderful therapist that keeps me on track. She has taught me many coping mechanisms that help. I am trying to let go and remember that I can't fix things.
But, I feel helpless with some things.
I feel a disappointment and failure to some that I love so dearly.
I can't change this, and that frustrates me.
My relationships are so important, (too important) and my Mom, Husband, and Daughters mean the world to me. To let any of them down is devastating.
I lost a close friend this year. Well, I didn't lose them, I had to make a decision to let them go. A healthy decision but painful never less. I miss them, but can't deal with them.
I can't find a job. What the flying fish? I'm 48 yrs old. Am I really that under-qualified or undesirable to everyone?
I am not looking for a pity party. Really. I would happily accept prayers though. I guess I just need to vent. Therapy is a few weeks away and my Hubby doesn't "like" when I feel this way. I don't share this with him. He believes a person can "toughen up" and not be weak.
I am trying.

A Bruised Heart
My heart is heavy and bruised a bit.
I have been hurt by those I love and I am having a hard time processing it.
Things were said, emotions flowed. I am blaming myself, because that is what I do.
I am raw. I have been over-analysing and reliving the conversations.
The past couple of weeks have been difficult. I few different situations, involving different loved ones, have collided at the same time. I feel like pieces of my heart have been torn out little by little and I am weak.
Today, I got yet another tongue lashing.
Really?
You have no ideal.
My shoes you have not walked.
My path is not yours.
Things are not always what they seem.
How dare you assume you can have this discussion with me?
I walked away, but, in tears. Maybe it is me. Maybe, I am a bit of a fuck up.
I am searching for answers. And for solutions. My Therapist has given me wonderful coping skills that I am applying (which seems to be part of which some loved ones are resisting. They like me better as a doormat). I am grateful I got to see her this week. God is hearing much from me as well. My prayers & conversations with Him are long winded, and I am trying to listen to what He is telling me I should do. It is only the tenth of January and I have already made it to three churches. Dear friend to vent with is valued and adored. (What would I do without her?). I have a ton to write but feel the censorship thus I think I will put these thoughts in my private Blog. I am perplexed...
Today, it's just me, the dogs & cats. My daughters went back to the University over the weekend. Hubby is out of town on business. I know it crushed him to hear of today's little encounter. He wants to comfort, he wants to protect. He wishes I went with him on this trip. We needed it, and it is a brief one. But, who'd take care of my spoiled pooches & Puss'? My dogs don't like everyone, they are spoiled and want me to care for them. People are scared of them. People are also afraid of one of the cats. I wouldn't use a kennel, nor can I afford one (I have 6 pets). The girls, dang it, they are back in Muncie... too far to help with my mutts. It's yet another thing that is MY FAULT, imagine that? I should have trained them better so we could have neighbor kids help like we use to with prior pets.
I'm sitting here with my first glass of wine. I'm about to indulge on some Mac N Cheese. I think I am tossing the notion of cleaning my carpets and getting the house spotless aside, and engrossing myself in comfort foods. So, I am not even going to peek at the calorie & fat content that I am going to consume this late afternoon /evening... I will blame the extra pounds on those that have been cruel, although we all know that in reality it is, of course, like everything else, my fault.

Really I am Fine
Anyway, I tried to warn you followers that my Blog has the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
Gotta have some ugly & bad with all that good.
It has come to my attention I worried a few friends with my last posting. puppet strings Let me assure any worriers, that I am fine. I actually started that post several months ago. It's just been a stressful couple of weeks with a lot of things pulling me in different directions. I started thinking about that unfinished post and was able to finish it.
My life in general is good. Perfect, no, not hardly. But basically I am learning to love the life I have been given.
In a perfect dream...
my daughters honor me,
my husband adores me,
my family is proud of me,
my job is fulfilling & rewarding,
my house is ultra clean,
I have time for activities I want to do,
etc etc etc... you get the picture.
Hence the word "DREAM".
That "ain't" my life.
My Hubby & daughters do love me...honor & adore are a bit strong.
My family (outside the immediate) I can never make someone feel something that they don't.
My job...what job? still unemployed.
My house.. HA HA, moving on,
Time for activities, I wish, however I am learning to make this more of a priority.
My life is perplexed. And I am learning to appreciate it.
Writing my feelings certainly help me to understand and deal with things. Your comments help me feel "normal", and even loved. Certainly cared for.
The strings that are pulling me are not winning. These strings are frayed, and I will free myself eventually.

self worth? what is it worth?
So strange how one can have so much going for themselves and from the outside appear to have it together, when truly inside feel as if they are dying and full of doubt.
Picture perfect.
Nice house. Great husband. Beautiful successful children. Accomplished with work and service.
Inside, dark, sad and full of discontentment.
melancholy.
I can't make these feelings go away.
I certainly can (and do) make it better. I have wonderful coping mechanisms I use, I remember that I can't nor should I feel, I can fix things. Also, I take medication.
It's the holidays, that make things feel worse. This is a season of joy. Of family and friends. Of celebrating the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I am full of shame to feel this way at a time of celebration and joy. I am full of doubt, of my self worth.
I'm giddy of the arrival of my college daughters. Of them staying for a few weeks. Of getting to have them with us. Of getting to see the wonderful young women they have become. But... I am also frightened. I have a habit of having high expectations and getting let down when things go awry. My husband will be expecting them to be perfect. Or at least see things the way he does... When they don't (and they won't), he will blame me. The girls will then get mad at him, which he will get madder at me, as he thinks, "you girls always gang up on me. it's three to one." Regardless to the content of the subject. He will also tease me, which for the past 25 years he has felt I should not get mad, as he does it "lovingly" and he has forever, so I should be use to it by now. It's usually, nothing or very little & should not bother me, but, for the past 25 years, he KNOWS it bothers me & I wish he'd stop. It's just not funny to me.
Family will gather. And I will stress. Somebody will say something, do something. I will be the peacemaker.
Oh my gosh... when it rains, it pours...
I started this post earlier today. Since starting it, we discovered our car has been broken into, and yes things were stolen. Then the furnace tried to die... but Hubby scared that mean ole furnace into giving some more life into it.
The day has turned to evening. Things already look brighter. I hesitate to post this, especially since I am censored more now with readers that I don't want to take things wrong and over react.
But...
Truth be known, this is my life.
I promise myself to be honest. I keep much to myself, but writing is so therapeutic. I know that I am not the only one that has these feelings. I know that when I read others, and how they cope, how they made it better, I know I can too. I hope that others feel that way when reading my blog.
I feel ten times better. Humor has helped. I'm about to indulge in a glass of White Zinfandel. That will help too. (Don't worry, I only have a glass now and then, never abuse and haven't gotten "tipsy" in many years.)
My lovely Therapist told me I must lower my expectations. I must accept things are GOING to happen. When they do, I need to say, "Oh, so that is the "Thing". And Move On. Funny.. It works.
I realize life throws us all surprises and disappointments.
Remember I am very grateful for my life, family, and faith. I just really need to work on that self worth thing.

Never Enough
Not smart enough;
Not strong enough;
Not happy enough;
Not pretty enough;
Not healthy enough;
Not content enough;
Not thankful enough;
Not grounded enough;
Not careful enough;
Not willful enough;
Not competent enough;
Not thankful enough;
And
Not good enough.
Self-esteem issues. I know. I am working on them. Sometimes I go about feeling my best is enough. But sometimes, often, I don't.
I pray about it. I seek counsel. I write and I have coping skills to help.
Sometimes, it isn't enough.
The overwhelming feeling can creep up building slowly, and sometimes just kick me in the behind so fast I certainly didn't see it coming.
It has a grasp on me some days. A strong grasp. The fight within is wearing me down.
I just want to go back to bed.
I know, I know, this will pass. I am good enough really. I have to remember I am like the little engine that thought he could. Just keep working it till I can convince myself .
Maybe one day I will feel it...

The Pleaser

When a Pleaser allows to be a target, the arrow always finds the target. She will be blamed and take to heart any of the bad that happens.
The little Girl grow up and found ways not to be overwhelm. But she continued to try to fix and save people, animals and things.
She meet a wonderful Prince that turned her world upside down (in a good way). They had two little girls as well and were on their way to "Happily Ever After".
But the past haunts her. The present haunts her.
The girl's parents continue to have problems. They let their problems get enormous and out of control. They are in their golden years but miserable. They pour that out to the girls who want to help and have tried unsuccessfully.
One day the Girl, now a Woman, became frightened. She knew she couldn't handle it anymore. But rather than fall into the same pattern of her parents, she fought back. She let love ones know she was overwhelmed and needed help. Together with their support she was able to become strong, face her demons and realize none of it was her fault. Even when her Father tried once again to take his life, telling her that if anything happened to him it would be her fault. She got professional help and medical help. She let her daughters, who also are now adults know that it is okay, not to be able to burden the worlds problems. That when the going gets tough, you fight back.
Now, with a little something that helps her stabilize her depression, and a wonderful Therapist that makes her feel "normal", she has become a happy person. She enjoys her husband. She enjoys her daughters. She has learned to set boundaries. And best of all, understands, it's not her fault.
Even at 48, I find myself fearing the overwhelming guilt of not being able to "fix" everything. One of the parents, is again, threatening suicide. Throwing the guilt and Damning life. Amazes me that it still can grasp me and shake me up so. I am doing a really good job of keeping my head high and embracing the good things in life. I speak lovingly to the parents. I realize they haven't a clue what they do to me. I pray even harder. But... I also have made peace with myself. "I can't fix people". It's not my job, nor responsibility...

Time To Take A Xanax!
The day is going, well, interesting is a nice way to put it.
We awoke to a snow storm here in Indiana. No problem, we are use to changing weather. We have "weathered" them before. Nothing like the good ole days when SNOW meant SNOW.
One of my daughters, needs to be back @ school by tomorrow morning for an exam. We wanted her to go yesterday before the storm hit, but, she wanted to wait till today. Now, there are severe road conditions and she no longer drives an SUV but a small compact car. We are making her wait, much to her protest. I promise Baby, we will make sure you get there before tomorrow's exam!
The Hubby, cancelled his business trip to Louisville because of the weather. Headed out to plow some streets and parking lots instead. (Small side business). His 4 wheel drive won't work...Can't plow without it. He is awaiting help @ a repair shop. Not in a peachy mood.
I am working on a project that I can't seem to complete in a timely manner at work. Stressed out and tying to get my speed up to par. Timing is so important when you are "contracted" I really want to become permanent. I need to become a necessity instead of extra.
My friend's Dad just had MAJOR surgery. He is recovering, but, we all fear these times as our parents age and run into these situations. I want to go sit with her. Hug her and be by her side. We have many miles between us that make this impossible for me right now. I am with her and her family in prayer though.
My own parents are having issues as well. We will leave that at that for now. Again, I am deep in prayer.
Tuition, mortgage, utilities, as well as a mountain of other expenses have hit as promised this time of year. Gosh, what happens to our paychecks?
I have to get the tax stuff together... Where is everything???
Another friend has been going through the toughest of all times, yet I can't help her with what she needs most. The frustration of not being able to make it go away, or make things right is torturous. I want her happy and smiling again! Prayers, Prayers.
Health issues are pissing me off. Plus I start my weight watchers group. I am sure I will be a peach too.
My home is a mess. I keep cleaning and it just magically gets a mess by time I get home. How does that happen? I need a day off just to make it sparkle again. While I am at it I need to throw all the Christmas stuff in the attic for another 11 months.
I am having my first get together, since moving into the new house. A little Wine & Candle Party on Sunday. I am stressing over wanting everything so nice for this gathering. Plus many of the gals I wanted to see, can not make it. Crap...I have no chairs. Is this storm going to interfere?
I still have to drive home in this mess and it just hasn't stopped snowing yet! I miss my SUV. Will my Monte Carlo impress me or chicken out?
These are the days I fear most. I get overwhelmed. Overpowered. My depression creeps in. My anxiety goes sky high. I am feeling Kookoo!
I am praying. I am playing some great music from Pandora (Internet music). I am trying to remember to breathe.
But, some days, I have to listen to my body. My mind. It is telling me I could use a little extra help that my Doctor has told me I must use when this happens. After all, he is a strong Christian man that would never steer me wrong. He prays with me. He is a man of God over his being a man of medicine. He knows how I feel about medication. But, I will trust him and listen today. For I know not what else is to come. Today, I need a little help from panicking.
Hello Xanax.
Take me Away!
Chill Me Out!

chapters...
I have been rather blue lately. Downright melancholy. I don’t have any true reasons.
Actually, things are looking brighter.
Much like a book, I am ending a chapter, and the upcoming chapter looks inviting and exciting. Good things to come, while harder things are getting ..umm easier?
Looming in the very near future is Changes. This new chapter has several changes that I will have to adapt to. I look forward and anticipate the excitement of the fall. We will have some clarity. We also will have some confusion. Things will be different, yet some things will remain.
Annie will soon be leaving the nest for her new college life. That is a very good thing and I am excited for her. I am anxious for her to spread her wings. I know she will be happy and I look forward to her stories and visits home.
Emily will be starting her 3rd year at Ball State University. She has grown so much in these past couple of years. I want her to continue to be the strong loving woman she has become. I look forward to seeing what this year has in store for her.
Sergio & I are in a good place. He has been my rock, and I like to think I have for him.
My job is enjoyable, and I like my co-workers. The uncertainly of being a Temp makes me crazy. Although I am told the work I am doing will continue until the fall of 2010. Hopefully, the job freeze will be lifted, and I will have "permanent" status.
I want to get a grasp on my life. I want to be in a place that Sergio and the girls will be proud of me. I want to like me again. I want to be proud of myself. I want to see the good, not the bad.

I Miss Bliss
I use to one of those that always was happy. Saw the glass half full instead of half empty. Smiled at strangers. Had a song in my heart.
Now I am just so sad. I keep seeing what I wish or hoped and not what I have that is good. Every time I start to get up, something drags me back down.
Don't get me wrong, I am truly grateful, and love my blessings. My family is everything to me. I just feel inadequate. I feel like I am lacking in making things happy.
I am so tired. I am losing my desire.
I want my Bliss back.
I want my Rose-colored glasses.
I want to see the good, not the bad. The positive not the negative.
Give me smiles not frowns.
Laughs not tears.
Someone tell me how do I get it back? And hang on to it tighter this time?

Overwhelmed
I feel numb. Not myself.
I actually hear people talking but am not paying attention to the words they are saying. I see them speaking, but hear blah blah blah.
I only have five minutes to write, then it's back to being a robot.
I miss you Blogworld. when allowed to write daily, I felt safer, saner.
I have had some wonderful parts of the week.
Annie's Award Day, the job is going well...
But I have had some hard parts pf the week.
The economy and Sergio's position in trying to keep UAW workers sane.
Our own finances, with graduation, insurances and license plates due. My dear little truck is still in the shop after a few weeks. The good news is it is a great truck worthy of saving, the bad news is the engine. It had a life of over 250,000 miles, and that is all it could take. We are waiting for a suitable donor engine. Meanwhile I am without a vehicle. As well as the usual bills due and extra expenses of...living.
I know I am blessed with the family & friends. I currently am employed with a job I am enjoying.
But, I am depressed.
I freakin' overwhelmed.
I have no time for me. I am expected to do this and that, and while I am at it, some of this too.
I want to go curl up somewhere comfy. I want to be invisible. I want to ...
relax.

When Breathing is Not Enough
What do you do when remembering to breathe is not enough?
When you feel so overwhelmed and so incapable.
I try so hard to keep things in prospective. I try to keep positive. I have so very much to be thankful for. Such a wonderful husband and dear sweet daughters.
Every time I am back up and happy, something or someone cruelly punches me in the gut or knocks me down. How do I keep that from sucking me into a dark place?
I was doing okay, trucking along, when suddenly I was blindsided by the Boogey Man. An evil crusher that takes my self esteem and destroys it.
Last night, I was so overwhelmed. I tried so hard to stop the tears from sliding down my checks. My supervisor, is sweet and reminded me I could take a 10 minute break if I needed. I thanked her, but told her my quota is too low and I could not afford the break. I finally pulled it together after Sergio's texts made me smile (God, how I love this man!).
Why can't I stay out of this funk?
I have so much I need to be doing.
I must find a job that gives me the hours and pay that will adequately subsidize our income.
I must clean this home before Emily and her friends arrive Friday.
I must get photos organized and start Annie's senior slide show.
I must get correspondence and bills together and sent out.
And I must get ready for my visit with Betsy. Ahh Betsy. Hopefully, she can shed some light on my dilemma and bring me to a happy or at least peaceful place.
Sorry to be doom and gloom. Just one of those weeks...

My Happy Place
I have a book written by Charles R Swindoll, titled, "Three Steps Forward Two Steps Back". Isn't that the truth that says it all? Although sometimes it feels like, two steps forward three steps back.
I feel that I gravitate to my happy place when the walls are caving in on me. Currently that happy place for me is here. Blog World. Not just to write, but to read. This morning I spent two hours catching up and commenting on several blogs I read. They take me away like Calgon. Give me a few minutes away from what looms over me at home.
I have so much I should be doing. With my upcoming guest, I really need to get the house in order. I have a resume waiting to be updated and sent on its merry way to assist in the job hunt. I have a mountain of paper work surrounding my desk needing to be filed, shredded and dealt with. I have a dozen other things begging for attention.
Instead, I keep finding my way back to the computer. I also gave two of the dogs puppy massages (Riley has a pulled muscle and Bandit got jealous). I have found myself sitting a few times watching Ellen (I love her show).
When I can't get to the computer, I find myself singing the Ant Song. The Besties and I started that so many years ago. Amazing how much that song works. Just a simple little song about High Hopes.
I have got to get out of this funk! I want to be geared up for my girls weekend. I have to get ready for it and I want everything perfect.
The good part is my Besties love me no matter what. We are all Dog people so the dog hair wont bother them. They are coming so we can be together not to inspect my house.
The best part about Besties is they love you no matter what, flaws and all.

Baby Steps
I have always been the rescuer. The problem solver. The one that saw the brighter side of the picture. I never thought i would be on the other side of the fence. I recently wrote about Compassion Fatigue and I think that learning about this has been helpful. I know that I am getting better and although they are baby steps, I am going to be fine.
Sometimes, my counselor, makes me see things I don't want to confront. But, she has also helped me to learn to like myself as well as find myself.
I think that the important thing that I hope my daughters, husband, and anyone that may know me or have someone in their life that is struggling with depression will learn is this. It is okay to feel hopeless and overwhelmed, but you also need to know when it is okay to ask for help and not feel ashamed to receive it.
Depression is what it is. It's an extreme feeling of melancholy. Simply things can cause it and it can overcome you fast. It isn't anyone's fault. I just fell into it.
BUT,
I am picking myself up, brushing myself off and starting all over again.
