My Wonder/ Resurrection Lily Update

Resurrection/Wonder/Surprise Lily
I promised to post pictures of the mysterious bulb that was blooming last week. Thank you for all that commented.  I had forgotten that I did have foliage that suddenly disappeared a few weeks prior to the bulbs sprouting. I had a great response of it being a Wonder Lily, more specifically a Lycoris bulb, some call it Naked Lady, Resurrection Lily, or Surprise Lily. (thank you Judy).
Pretty thing isn't it?  So glad I didn't pluck it from the ground.

What is It?

This afternoon I watered my Zebra Grass and Ferns and noticed a couple of these spouting from the ground.  No leafage, just a stem with a flower bud.
I have two of them.

What are they?  Some kind of day lily? The timing is right, and the lack of leaves. But where did they come from?  I haven't planted them. They just started popping up.

Any thoughts?

Where are you Spring?

It's rainy outside this morning.
Actually a spring shower, lightly misting and making for a wet day. It's just 49 degrees outside. Still enough to put a chill in you. Especially with the rain.

I am ready for Spring!
So are my bulbs.
I want to go out and start gardening.  I have lots of ideals and plans. I want to see lots of flowers.
I want to get my hands dirty!

My daughters are enjoying warmer weather, as they went vacationing for Spring Break.
Emily went to Daytona Beach, Florida.
It is currently sunny and 75 degrees there.
Annie is in South Padre Island, Texas.
Although it is 68 degrees and cloudy there right now. But the rest of the week screams warmer weather.

I am a little jealous.
(but really happy for the girls. They needed a nice break from school).

My Favorite Iris

Isn't this splendid? I grew it at the old house. It took me about 4 years to get it right. I got some iris' from two friends flower beds. I tried to blend them to get a new color. It started with liking the colors purple & yellow together. I also planted white ones in the same bed. This beauty and a couple more sprouted this year.

I just finished transferring some into a new spot at the new house. I am hoping that I will get this blend again. I left most at the old house, just thinned it out for better growth and to take a bit with me. I have my fingers crossed that they will bloom bi-colored again. (At least some of what I transferred!)

Iris' have always been my favorite flower. They are so delicate and fragile. They do not have a lovely fragrance. They just have such a beauty I am drawn to.

Spring is in the Air!

Spring is finally here, I think.
This is typical Indiana weather. Beautiful one day, ugly the next. We can go from 40 to 70 within twenty four hours. Spring officially came awhile back. We had our spring break, Easter, St Patrick's Day & even Mother's Day. We have had some gorgeous weather, followed by cold weather. Today is iffy. Beautiful, to look at, but by golly, that wind is chilly! To me, Spring is officially here when my Iris' are blooming. They are my favorite flower. I absolutely love them. I have several varieties, but so far, these are my only ones budding. I pray we don't get another cold night that will kill off all the blooms. We already had that, a couple of times. So today, I threw on shorts, pretended to be warm outside and had Annie take this picture of my Iris'.
