Beauty Torture & Other Magic Potions

Most women know what this is:
Ahh yes... how many of us have tried to get that "natural curl"? Eyelashes have a purpose, but we want them to be beautiful too.  They accent our eyes, and draw the attention to your eyes. I wanted to give you a little History lesson about lash curlers, but, got kind of freaked out seeing all the new eyelash curler products... heated, crimpers, and now that stuff that is suppose to make them grow longer & thicker... Brooke Shields endorses that but, come on Brooke... You had GORGEOUS eyelashes, eye brows and hair. (So not fair).  My daughters were very blessed with long gorgeous eyelashes...must be a Gonzalez thing not a Meyer (my maiden name) thing.
The other day, I found this lash curler in my beauty stuff drawer. Haven't tried it in many years. The pads still were good (ever "cut" your eyelashes? not me, but know someone who did with an old bad curler). So, anyway, I carefully get my lashes in this contraption, grip it together, and as I reopened it... ready for this? PINCHED THE OLD LADY EXTRA SAGGY SENSITIVE SKIN UNDER THE CORNER OF MY EYE!
owwwwwww.
Luckily it didn't cut me and I managed to rub push whatever my skin back where it goes (Had a wedding, didn't want to look scary). I think I am officially too old for eyelash curlers.

Found a few other things I have purchased and ended up in "the beauty drawer"
Check these "beauty" items out.
The only products I use up and really love and would buy all the time if I could still afford them is Philosophy ~ Hope in a Jar, Hope in a Tube, when Hope is Not enough, and the Microdelivery.
In my defense, I did not buy all the above products. Some were given to me.
By The Way go HERE and HERE for a couple of posts on the Victoria Secret Body By Victoria product. (I still love it although it's scary.)

I got a bunch of this too.
Always trying to find that perfect lotion! (and yes, that is the Nivea cellulite lotion potion..always trying to get a magic potion for the ole legs problem area). Lancome Body Delisse is my all time favorite body lotion and body scrub. I discovered it at the Lancome Spa in South Beach Florida and savor it! Hard to find though. I pretty much have to get it on line, as the Lancome counters rarely stock them anymore. (story of my life, the stuff I love is never cheap or easy to get).

Why do we always try so hard to "fix" stuff on us? Why do we strive to have that perfect skin, perfect hair, and perfect body? Why do we care?

Pretty Princess and the Last Prom

Today, I had the joy of hanging with my beautiful daughter, preparing her for her Senior prom. We had Mani-pedi's at the nearby "Lovely Nails". Went to "Saks Fifth Ave", for the Bobby Brown make up. Had her hair styled by the wonderful Lindsey in Broad Ripple. Then home to throw "the dress & shoes" on. And out the door for pictures.

First stop was
"Seros" Annie's restaurant. She and friend, Haley, met with co-workers to show off their dresses. Annie has been blessed to work there for a couple of years now and they are so good to her. The owners will be so disappointed they missed Annie & Haley.

Next stop was Nathans. Annie's boyfriend. Why didn't they go together you are wondering? Well, Annie & Nathan have gone to two previous proms together. Also, this is "Little Five" (big party weekend & bike race @ Indiana University) Annie wanted to let Nathan be freed up to go visit his buddies for the event. Nathan ended up having an opportunity to work for his family business. They own a Banquet Hall and were hosting another High School Prom. Nathan was DJ'ing it. A chance to earn money! A must for all college students. And third, Annie wanted to go with a group of friends, her "date" has been one of her best friends for many years. He also was her partner in Fall Homecoming. Sean is kindof her Richie. She is fortunate to have a wonderful trusting boyfriend. Nathan & Annie have a strong relationship. Prom is just a High School dance.

That brings us to Sean's for the first two photos. Gorgeous group, huh?
My Annie was able to wear 4" heels, and that dress... Isn't it the prettiest dress you ever saw? She fit it perfect, her coloring, her figure. The back was as pretty as the front. Oh my Goodness! I never looked like that!!!

She will enjoy this sweet parting, if you will, the growing up and a little bit of a goodbye to her high school friends. In just a few weeks they will graduate and part ways.

My princess will have a wonderful evening. I love her so much.

Where's My Hair Dryer?!

Nothing makes me crankier than to have something borrowed and not put back! My stuff is your stuff. I share well. BUT please put it back!

I have an old (maybe 15-20 years old) Vidal Sasson hairdryer. Big ugly thing, that I love. It works really good. My girls "discovered" it recently. After countless cooler dryers have burnt out. Again, I have no problem with sharing it, but, today I can't find it.

Of course, I washed my hair (finally after being yucky sick girl), and went to grab the hair dryer and it's gone! No where in my bathroom. I checked Annie's bathroom 1st, as that is where it is usually found. Not there. Nor her room, nor Emily's. It's not in the other bathroom. I rechecked all of above. Also other possibilities.

Mind you I have my hair in a towel and I am still learning this new styling so it is crucial to style as it dries. I can't find a fricking dryer in the house! Well, I did find Dakota's but it's a curly top (also 20 yrs old) and it is not for styling, more for fluffing. Anyway... WHERE'S MY HAIR DRYER!!!

I am wondering if Emily "borrowed" it for Florida. hmmm. I guess, it's more important for her to look good than me. Also, Annie will freak when she realizes it's gone. Unless, she has it in her bag or car. She did go to the gym. hmmm.

Well, I guess I am just gonna have to look "Crazy Hair Lady" for the rest of the week! I am not about to buy another. They just don't make them like they use too!
