The Graduate

Her she is! Our lovely High School Graduate! The Baby is grown. She has completed her required education and is eager to move on to bigger and better things. Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana is welcoming her as one of their promising Freshmen Class of 2013.
Her graduation was wonderful. She presented the Staff and Administrators as well as her fellow students and all of us guest, with a warm welcoming speech. She is a natural. Well spoken, never fumbling with names, and keeps the audience listening with interest. She graced the stage with her lean figure and 5 inch heels, with a smile and confidence. She spoke loud and proud.
She is graduating in the top quarter of her class. She served as Class Vice President, Yearbook Editor, Peer Mediator, Natural Helpers, ASL Ambassadors, National Honors Society, Quill & Scroll Honors, Quiz Bowl Team, and several committees. She participated in Cheerleading, Tennis, and Golf.
She was on Homecoming Court both her Freshman & Senior Years.
She was voted "Best Dressed."
She has friends of all walks. She doesn't care the color of your skin, your religion, your sex, or your family background. She never meets a stranger, just a potential friend. She will give you the world.
She will take BSU by storm. The Journalism Department wont know what hit them.
She is an extremely talented young woman and she will succeed in whatever she decides to do.
I love this amazing daughter. I can't wait to watch her fly.

Don't Give Up On Me Baby!

Okay Okay! I know I am slacking on the Blog!

I am upside down and inside out! My life is CRAZY and I am running in a million different directions.

So much to share with you all! Annie GRADUATED! We are preparing to move. I started another blog. Just lots and lots of "stuff" going on.

I am alive. I am still sane. I am ...okay.

So, please be patient with me. I promise to fill you in soon. Annie's graduation party is in a few days and I am running about trying to get things ready and as usual, I am not prepared!

More to come soon. Let me get through the weekend and I will post first thing next week.

Golly Ghee... and Whew!

Well, I have been away from Blogworld for a week. I have peeked in at some of my favorite Blogs to try and catch up on your lives, however, have had no time to post one myself.

Busy, busy, week.

Annie had a wonderful time at Prom. Also at Kings Island the following day.

Now for Graduation Rush.

I have spent all week scanning pictures for her Senior Video.

From birth to graduation.

I am lucky that she is so smart and technical. All I had to do was scan the photos onto a memory stick, she is turning them into a video. I narrowed it down to a few hundred photos.

It was harder than I thought.

Tears.

Laughs.

She grew up so fast.

There was a school Awards Program on Tuesday. Annie was recognized for 4 awards. I held back the tears, but I won't be able to at the Senior Awards, Senior Baccalaureate Services, or Graduation.

I am so incredible proud of the young woman she has become.

I also extremely emotional about her growing up.

Have I done enough? Have I taught her all I could? Will she still need me?

I hope so.

Pity Party

As graduation is approaching I am reminded of my daughters and that I am between Graduations for my daughters. Emily was the class of 2007. Andrea will be the class of 2009. I know several wonderful kids of the class of 2008, and am sure that we will be attending many Grad Parties.

My advice to the parents, especially the Mom's, is to enjoy this summer with your young adult. Be proud of their accomplishments, and be prepared for their next journey into adulthood.

As fall came round following Emily's graduation, we excitedly sent her off to the dorm life at Ball State University. I wasn't sure how I would handle that. Saying goodbye, and not have her at the house for the next several months. I was surprised at how calm and truly happy I was for her. We prepared her (and myself) well. She is self efficient and very capable. She was so ready to start this new adventure of her life. Also, with the help of today's technology, I happily heard from her almost daily via email, texting or cell phone.

To celebrate, I invited several other Mom's over for "A Pity Party". Margaritas, wine, and snacks. An opportunity to congratulate each other on this important next step our "children" were making. Some chose college, some went straight into jobs. Regardless, they had graduated and were on there way.

We reminisced, we laughed and even cried a few tears. How proud we all are of these young women and men. Our babies had grown up.

So Momma's of the Class of 2008, celebrate! You did your job, and deserve that Margarita!
