Is it Luck?

I read a post a while back from someone that was frustrated with the reputation of her nationality, and rather jealous of another having the reputation of Luck. (stupid, I know... but so was the the very one sided blog about everything written. My way is the only way...blah blah blah. I don't follow it anymore). Anyway, the post got me thinking about LUCK... and how many have superstitions that certain things bring luck. In fact I wrote a post about a year ago about luck. Go HERE for that post, (it was really good :( but no one commented on it).
I find it hard to believe that a person is lucky solely on their race. Or their sex for that matter. It is up to you to make things happen for yourself. Obviously, certain things in place can accelerate chances of good or bad. However, I don't think you are luckier than I based on the color of our skin or nationality.

I am kind of a hodgepodge person. I have many nationalities mixed in my blood as well as races. Although my maiden name is German, I have just as much French, Indian, and a "world" of others mixed in. While helping my daughter with a Genealogy  project, I learned of mixing of my race. Unlike my Hubby, whom was born in another country, can pretty well trace his roots through just that country.
But who really knows? And quite frankly, who really cares?  I don't mean to be disrespectful. I realize this is very important to many as to who & where they come from directly. But to me, it is more about whom I have become because of what I endure, and because of those that have been a part of my life more than what runs through my blood.

Luck of the Draw

"Find a Penny, Pick it Up, All Day Long, You will Have Good Luck!"
I still say this when I find pennies. I crack up my co-workers & friends. I don't really believe it but old habits die hard.

How about Four Leaf Clovers? I have found dozens. My daughter Annie has found hundreds. Our home in New Palestine must have been build on a clover lot as we found them all the time. Did they bring us luck? I wonder.

Rabbits Foot? Ewe...really? How lucky was that for the rabbit? You know this "charm" comes from witchcraft... I won't go there.

Fertility Dolls? Another hmmm. Really? I don't think so. Sounds like more witchcraft to me.

Then there are shrunken heads...Oh My Gosh! Is there anything more disgusting that this? It is believed that these were powerful talismans. Trophies of war for the tribesmen of the Amazon River forest. {More reasons that I.. 1~ have no desire to go to the Amazon River and 2~ ever want to go camping again!}.

Some people are afraid of Black cats bringing bad luck. Yeah... I see that. My Rocky was pretty fierce in his day.

Some people think that luck is heighten by lucky charms and hasten by bad charms. Me? Yes, I believe I too have a few.

I think it is lucky to be a Mom.
I think it is lucky to be in love & to be loved.
I think it is lucky to be happy.
I think it is lucky to be Me!

Fortune Cookies

We had fortune cookies at Annie's graduation party. I thought this was a fun idea. All seem to enjoy them.
I have always liked fortune cookies. I remember when I was a little girl, my parents went to a Chinese Restaurant and Mom brought Julie & I home the fortune cookies. I was hooked from that point on. Disappointed the first time went to a Chinese restaurant, thinking I would love the food like the cookies. I was wrong! Asian Cuisine is not my cup of tea!
Fortune Cookies are interesting. I don't "believe" in them. However, I do read them and I make them apply. Sometimes I will get surprised by one that is right on target. It's like, "hmmm. This is so true!"
A couple of very interesting ones I received recently are the following:
"Friends long absent are coming back to you."
I recently reconnected with Lynn. I could not be happier about that reconnection.
another one was:
"You will get your hearts desire."
We are in the process of getting a house that I am in love with and can see myself living there for the rest of our lives happily ever after.
I also got one saying I was "going to have a new love affair"
Then I met Tinka the bunny that has melted my heart. (not always quite what you think). It is a love affair in a sense. Tinka certainly has captured my heart.
Coincidence? I wonder.
I find it all interesting.
Do we manipulate things when we have a idea put into our thoughts?
Is it what it is, or is it all by chance?
Either way, I will continue to have fun with these silly little fortunes. I will make what I want of them and I will continue to eat the yummy cookies!
