Perfect Fall Weekend

Yesterday was the first official day of Autumn.
Because I do not work on Fridays, I enjoyed an additional beautiful crisp day for my weekend.
I ran to Half Price Books to look for a couple of easy sewing books for the girls at school. I did find  some good ones, then I wandered over to the Children's Books. I have ALWAYS loved Children's books.  Even before having children I had a collection on a shelf. I have always been a reader & I thank my Mom for taking us to the Library every couple of weeks.  During the summers of Junior High we had the Book Mobile park across the cul de sac. I was thinking about picking up Early Readers & Story Books for my Daughter, Emily.  She will soon be teaching and wants to build her library supply.  So hard not to buy dozens!  These books are awesome! Always in beautiful condition.  I picked 9.

Yesterday Hubby & I went back to Ball State for more tailgating.

It was great fun. I love our friends, the Boyd's, and we had fun catching up. Hanging with the "Baby", Annie, is always a treat. She showed us the house she signed  her 2012-2013 lease with. Amazing she is just starting year 3 at BSU, and already finalizing plans for year 4 living. But if you want a good place, that is what you do. She and two current roommates will join four more for a house of SEVEN Roommates!

When I got home I snapped a couple of photos of a sneak peek of our lovely foliage. It's already starting and soon will be full bloom.

I must make sure I make a trip to Brown County this year for the full effect.  It is quite spectacular and I must share it with you this year.

Today is rainy.  I still love it. One of the best things about living in the Midwest is the change of seasons.  We really get it all and I feel blessed.

Indiana Foliage

Today I ran to Bath & Body Works for a candle sale.  I got 4 candles in splendid autumn scents. Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Spiced Cider, Cinnamon & Clove Buds, & Fresh Balsam {okay~ that one is a little more Christmasy}. This weekend's fall breeze has me giddy for the Fall.
I am not your average Summer gal, not even a Ahhh Spring kind of girl. I love Christmas, but not a real Winter Baby either. I am an OH MY GOSH! I LOVE FALL kind of woman.

The smells, the sounds, the colorful outdoor canvas, the cool crisp air. I would love to live in the mountains or hills overlooking valleys, a lake, ravine, or canyons.

This is the one time I love most about living in Indiana. Our foliage is amazing. The colors vivid.

I can't wait for the leaves to start changing and falling! 

For as long as I can remember, I went to a small town called Nashville, Indiana. It is in the heart of our Beloved Broun County. People swarm the streets and the breath taking State Park to get a glimpse of Mother Nature at work.
This photo above is a favorite spot of mine and I have returned to the same spot so many years.
There is something about this place that brings life to me. I need it. I want it. From when I was a child, to the teen years, through adulthood sharing with Sergio & our girls. It is magical.
Sergio & I use to take the motorcycle down, and have stayed the night in the Brown County Inn.  We have camped (yes, I have been camping) we have hiked, and I love to shop the lovely little Nashville Village too.

The candles have brought me back.  I am so excited to have fall in the air! I will make a point of going a couple of times this fall. And I will take pictures to share instead of borrowing these!

Fall in the Air

Last week we had temperatures reaching the 90's. With the arrival of Earl on the East coast (some 700 miles away from us in Indianapolis) we have had quite the change in weather. The air is cool, the breeze pleasant and the temperatures closer to the 50's (current temp is 55).
I love it!
This is my favorite kind of weather.
The evening breeze is wonderful. Almost too cold. Just the way I like it. This morning as I took the dogs out, I noticed I could see my breath. Now if we would get a first frost, my allergies would go away.
In Indiana, we are Blessed with the most beautiful watercolors in the heart of Fall. The vivid colors are incredible.
The cool crisp air is bringing the change of colors in our autumn leaves a bit early. The yellows are beginning, soon to be followed by reds, purples and browns.
This afternoon my youngest will be in town and Sergio, Annie & I will try to get to the RibFest. It looks like it is going to be a perfect day for it.

BALL STATE UNIVERSITY TAILGATING

A fabulous brisk day to celebrate football, tailgating parties, and spending with people you love.

Today was Parent's Day at BSU. Here are my beauties! Annie in her DZ Sweatshirt & famous hat (the girl can always stay warm and still look adorable!) And Emily in her Chi-O Sweatshirt.
We joined Emily's roommate, Dana's family for great food and fun. I love her parents, very fun and I am glad we are getting to know them. I see where Dana gets her sweetness. Her Mom is lovely. I so loved sitting with Emily. Seeing several of her buddies. Seeing her smile and the way she is adored by her friends makes my heart overflow with joy.
We also got to meet many of Annie's friends. It is so strange seeing Annie with new friends. I have seen her hanging with the same high school friends since grade school. Now those girls are split up at different colleges and expanding their horizons. I really like these new friends. Annie is very happy and it's great seeing her blossom. She has gotten very involved in her sorority and with her leadership skills has already became the president of New Members. She is so awesome! I am so excited for her.
The weather, although a chill in the air, was sunny.
Hot chocolate in hand, I was good to go!
ps. The score: I don't have a clue! I don't know if we won, I do know we played Bowling Green. I wasn't really there for football!
