Take a Chance On Me...

Chances.

Risk.

Experiments.

We all are tempted. Some of us brave chances, risk and experiments. Some of us fear failure or ridicule and opt for the safe route.

I am usually a safety girl. But lately, I am feeling rather Risky. Willing to take a chance. So tonight I did.

Earlier this week I had a hair appointment. I am kindof a freak about hair. I like it long enough to hide behind it and nothing too much of a change!

My Mom is one of those cool rare souls who wears her hair short, spiky and very blond. I would rather die than be that bold.

I do like to hide the gray, simple traditional Mom cuts and color. Long enough to pull back or be stylist on a night out (Ha! Like that happens often!).

Anyway, Suzy, my stylist, whom I Love, cancelled on me at the last minute. Not her fault, she got injured and had to take the week off. I am so not willing to pay a stranger to over-charge me for a cut /color that I don't know if I will like!

So, I thought about doing it myself! Amazing how Wine will give me the encouragement to say,

"Hell Yeah! I can do this!!"

With wine in hand I began!
I followed the instructions. I played it some-what safe with a Soft Ash color. Oh! and it is a semi-permanent so Suzy can take over soon. I am home alone (other than my furry family members) so I am basically on my own. What the Hell am I doing??? Lord, get me another glass of wine! I am starting to panic a bit. However, again, I followed instructions. It looks even. It barely burns/itches. I really am wishing Suzy hadn't twisted her ankle! I am being totally selfish, but I am wanting a pro! I should have waited. It was only a week. However, Parents Weekend is this weekend at Ball State University. We are talking Tailgate.. Do you know how the natural sunlight grabs my gray and shouts "HELLO WORLD!!!" I wanna look like the girls MOM not GRANDMOM!
Crap-a Doddle!
Okay, moment of truce.
Hey...
It looks like it is all washing out!
I cant tell... Does it look better? Or not even there? Hmmmm.
Well I guess it hid some gray. Mostly just toned and evened out the color changes from an out grown coloring. What do you think?
(Oh, and Please, try to imagine me with make-up!!)

Ta Da!

Okay here is the new do. I took this rather quickly before running to work, so it isn't the best self portrait. But, you get the idea of the new cut and color. I gotta work on training the bangs to behave and stay on the side but, it will take time. I tried to go back to my natural & had some highlights thrown in to soften when the gray pops out. My girls will tell me I should have gone darker. I had Suzy cut about 5 inches off. I forgot to tell her leave enough for the ponytail. I tried tonight for my shower and had crazy short hairs that wouldn't reach the pony.

It feels great. Healthy. I loved the head massage.

Suzy gave me what I asked for and I am happy.

Now, about getting my teeth whitened...

It's a Hairy Day!

Hopefully not in a bad way. It has been months since my last hair cut, color and style. I always put myself on the back burner and try to take care of everyone else's needs first. I have been trimming my bangs (ugh!) and the gray? I just try to find ways to hide it.

Well, today is my day. I'm going to see Suzy, my gal.

I want something a little different from my past. Just slightly. I retreat to the same look always. I can find photos of myself dating back 20 some years where I have a variety of this same hair style.

I found this groovy little site! From InStyle magazine. Hollywood Hair Makeover. Go to InStyle.com follow to makeovers and then follow prompts.

Coolest thing. I had so much fun. The picture I chose to download had my Besties in it so I could see how I looked with them. You don't want to pick something too out there then look weird with your friends! I took some photos (with my phone) of the computer screen as it would not let me save the actual photos of me. You can save, but not to your computer files. I wanted to share with you all to help me pick what I am going for. I also tried to transfer the photos from my phone but. I couldn't get it to work (of course).

I want my natural (minus the gray) hair color back. It was a dark brunette. And maybe some soft highlights. NO MORE REDS though! Suzy loves my hair in red and I always leave her shop as a redhead. Always. Usually I don't care. It is a nice shade for me & I always get compliments, but this time I want what I want. I am also going to cut some length this time. I am not a short hair person, I gotta have enough for that pony tail.

I am hoping this hair appointment will give me the life I am needing. I am so looking forward to the head massage part ( :

I will let you know how it goes!

Dark Blonde

I got my hair done. Cut, color & style.

I love getting it done. Sitting in the chair, relaxing. The feeling is fabulous.

When the girls were little they "did" my hair all the time. I had very long hair, they would have me part it and each do a side. I would have 20 plus barrettes and bows in my hair. As they got older, I got more sophisticated styles. Even before my girls, I always had little girls playing with my hair. When I worked at the Deaf School, once while playing beauty shop, I had several little girls start to gather & have "worried" looks as my young stylist feverishly work away. Then, I smelled the burning hair... she had the curling iron stuck in my hair! I survived. She did too, she had never used one and didn't realize hair can burn!

Back to my new do...
My Stylist is wonderful. She always gives me a great cut. The color is always good and her prices can't be beat. We have been friends for many years and going to her shop is a pleasure. The only complaint is, well, like all Stylist, they seem to give you what they want more than what you want. She thinks I look better as a redhead. I want it lighter, blonder. We compromise and I have brown hair w/ highlights. Sometimes the highlights are red, sometimes my hair is red w/ blonde highlights. Years ago, I would get upset, today, I let her at it. She does a beautiful job and I don't care so much.
This time, she had pictures to show me her thoughts and ideals. She told me she thought I should go with color rather than the highlights and that it would process better with a nice blend. She showed me three pictures. I chose the lighter two. She told me that was what she thought I would choose and had "Dark Blonde" in the tube. I was cool with it, even excited. I think dark blond is pretty. I was anxious to see my dark blonde hair. When it was done, I looked in the mirror, and, Surprise! It's reddish brown. She asked me if I liked the blonde. I said, "Well, I like it, but maybe we could go lighter next time. I don't really see the blonde." She thinks I am crazy. She says it's blonde.

One of us is color blind.
