I am so glad I did!
It is a novel written by Susan Meissner, published in 2009. Meissner is Christian writer, winner of the Christian Book Award for Fiction. I love being surprised to see Christianity sprinkled in a book. Particularly when unexpected.
I'm am borrowing Elizabeth Musser's praises of the book:
"Poetic prose and a 'can't put it down' plot makes White Picket Fences a great read. It is a thought-provoking look into a dysfunctional family that thinks it's functional and how an outsider can serve as a means of grace."It's that good. Grab a copy, and enjoy.
One of the reasons I'm sad about the end of bookstores (because of Amazon, kindle, ipads and such) is because of that random factor. It's fun to pick up a book just because, and even more fun to enjoy it. xx
ReplyDeleteI love books - real books, no electronic versions for me, thank you. I just got through reading the latest Adriana Trigiani book and her writing style I really, really adore - it's similar to my own interests of family, family history, romance, Italy, cooking... anyway, I just can't get enough of her books and have purchased them all over the years and re-read them many times.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation. This looks intriguing.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Linda
I had dysfuncion....i might like it....I always thought mine was the only dysfunctional one, until i grew up and realized everyone has some dysfunction to some degree.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on this book. I love this kind of book, too.
