Sing Your Praise To The Lord

{not the best copy..but it will do}
In the winter of 1988, I was very pregnant with our first daughter, Emily.  Just like my 3 Musketeers Candy Bars & my 3 Taco Bell Tacos every day, I also had an incredible craving for this song, by Amy Grant. I would play it in my car cassette player very loud, over and over on my way to work. Every day to and from work.  It's as if Emily would "want" it played.  I swear, it felt like she moved to the beat. It has a very powerful musical intro. It's strong and moving.  I am surprised she wasn't born humming this tune.

This evening I heard it on Pandora Internet radio.  To be honest, even though I am still a huge Amy Grant fan, I haven't heard this particular song in a long time.  I tend to play her newer CDs rather than this old favorite. To be honest, I don't believe I have it any more.
It was a very deja vu experience hearing it played. Ironic as well, as Ms Emily has been heavy on my mind, since we moved her out this past weekend to the condo.  Listening to the words of a song I sang so many time before were heard in a new perspective this evening.
This song completely fits her. She wears her faith proudly and has strong convictions.

May you always sing your praises to the Lord Emily.  I am so very proud of you♥

That's such a sweet tribute to your daughter!
I love it when old songs bring back good memories. I've been known to pull over to the side of the road so I could concentrate on the memory. :-)
Have a great week!

This is so wonderful. ♥

First of all, Amy Grant is special to me. 1988 I was going through one of the most difficult times in my life. I was 24 and heavily involved with my boyfriend since 16 and he had issues. Big issues and yet I loved him dearly and was struggling with the fact that things weren't going to work out for us. I started playing the Organ again that my parents got me in Junior High, and listening to Amy Grant cassettes that belonged to my youngest sister who had begun going to a different church with one of her friends. I loved those Amy Grant songs and can remember sitting in my sisters room, singing along with the song that you mention and all of the other old classic Amy Grants. I grew closer to the Lord during those times and it was through God's strength that I was able to finally break away from that relationship (when I got involved with Sarah's father, but that didn't work out either, lol, but that's a different story).

Anyway - Jim and I both love Amy Grant. He is a huge fan first of her husband Vince Gill, and the fact that Eric Clapton and Vince teamed up on some things (Vince played at the last two Crossroads Festivals), and that's what got Jim interested in Amy's music. We love it all - old and new.

Love the tribute to your beautiful daughter. Time does fly, doesn't it? I think on that more and more and oftentimes it makes me very, very sad, so then I have to stop myself from thinking about it. The passage of time is indeed bittersweet.

Love, Linda
