Black & White

I love walking outside when it's late and quite. Like everything around you is asleep.
Because we don't have a fenced in yard, I walk my dogs in the backyard before bed. Often it is very late and everything is so peaceful outside.
When it's dark and you only have the moon & stars reflecting the light, things look very black and white. I don't see colors, just the contrast of dark and shadowing.
Last night, close to midnight, I walked my dogs in the backyard. It is so peaceful and dark. All color is drained and between black and white, I see shades of gray.
So beautiful!
There is something about it that calms me.
I wish I had a photograph to show you. Maybe tonight I will remember to bring a camera outside with me.

Beautiful description of the night. Though sometimes the dark scares me. :)

Happy Friday. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Supposed to get very warm.

I enjoy sitting outside at night. Hubby always wants the light on, I like it dark. I enjoy the quiet night sounds...until the neighbors cat jumps up on their fence and it scares me half to death! Then the light comes on! :-)

I like to step out at night and look at the stars and listen to the frogs and crickets. It is very relaxing, at least until the raccoons start fighting. Their screams can curdle your blood. Aldo Leopold in his book A Sand County Almanac talks about going out at night in the spring and listening for the large flocks of migrating birds. He was more talented than me and could pick out the specific species. I have tried this and have yet to hear them pass. So keep your ears open and see if you hear them when you are out walking late at night.
