Violence and Porn on TV

My Hubby has discovered a couple of new series on television.
About every evening while I am reading, he watches the tube. It's our winding down time. Sometimes I will watch, but honestly, our preference in entertainment differ. While he likes adventure, I prefer comedy. I like stuff that is goofy or ridiculous (sitcoms & reality). Hubby likes grit and grim (fighting & survival).
Hubby has started watching the Vampire series and Spartacus series.
Have you seen any of these?
What do you think of the Vampire series? I can't watch them. They are full of violence. GROSS. I also think they are evil. They scare the shit out of me.

Have you watched Spartacus? It does have a great story line and is very political if you think about it.
But my oh my...I think they are pushing the envelope. Last night, while reading, I found it difficult to concentrate with F*cK this & F*cK that. I can handle Sh*t & B*tch, but its getting a bit much.
The worse of it is seeing naked "slaves" strolling along and while the men were in the crapper.. Then there were the "rewarding the gladiators" with sex slaves. My oh my... Now, I know we are seeing booties & boobies more and more on the tube. BUT when I see cooters and penis, I draw the line. Seeing a couple together having sex and seeing an orgy with bodies a flopping...GROSS
PORN!!!
Time to change the channel!
Seriously....

I totally agree about the sex in some of these shows...I don't see why it's necessary to the story to show it so graphically. I never thought of myself as a prude; in fact, my adult daughters think my sense of humor is a little bawdy at times; but I agree that these days too much is "acceptable". The line to cross isn't as bold as it used to be.

Nancy says she can tell if I will watch a movie by the warnings if it has: Sex, Violence and Language it is a three star movie in my book, and if any of the three warnings start with Graphic then it is a must see! Tell Sergio to watch True Blood and Sons of Anarchy they have all the above fun and more.

Mark~ he does...have you seen the new Spartacus series?
It actually has a good story line about power, politics and survival. I could just do without the F bomb (yeah I say it alot but not on tv), and the graphic fight & sex scenes.

Funny side note: I really am not a prude. Im listening to my playlist right now & Kate Nash's "Dickhead" is playing.. kind of ironic :)

We just have basic cable and sometimes it's bad enough. I don't feel like I'm missing a thing. The more exposure we have to things, the more we get used to seeing/hearing it, the more 'normal' it becomes in our everyday world. When I was a kid, I NEVER heard anyone use the "F" bomb, now it's in normal conversations. I mean, sometimes you HAVE to say it, to get the anger out.....but in every sentence?
